Dosing
Once-Daily Dosing Without Regard to Meals (1)
- Patients should be placed on an appropriate lipid-lowering
diet before receiving TriCor and should continue this diet during
treatment with TriCor.
- The initial dose of TriCor for adult
patients with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia is
145 mg/day without regard to meals.
- For adult patients with hypertriglyceridemia, the initial dose is 48 mg to 145 mg/day without regard to meals. Dosage should be individualized according to patient response, and adjusted if necessary, following repeat serum lipid determinations at 4- to 8-week intervals.
- The maximum dose is 145 mg/day. Therapy should be withdrawn
if an adequate response at this dose has not been achieved after 2
months.
- In patients with mild to moderately impaired renal function, TriCor should be
initiated at a dose of 48 mg/day and increased only after evaluation
of the effects on renal function and lipid levels at this dose.
